This class will utilize the heated palette as a printing surface to make encaustic monotypes. Heating, mixing color, applying wax to paper, layering and mounting methods are covered. A variety of tools will be used for markmaking, including stencils to add texture and pattern to the prints.

This workshop is designed to explore the possibilities of painting onto cotton-based materials with encaustic and other wet painting media. Using thin cotton sheeting and absorbent cotton papers as substrates, students will mount finished painted works onto wood panels.
