This workshop is designed to explore the possibilities of painting onto cotton-based materials with encaustic and other wet painting media. Using thin cotton sheeting and absorbent cotton papers as substrates, students will mount finished painted works onto wood panels.
Expand your encaustic repertoire by building an Encaustic Printmaking portfolio! Explore the translucent medium of encaustic (hot wax) using the heated palette as a printing surface to make encaustic monotypes. This class will cover heating, mixing, applying wax to paper, as well as layering and transferring methods. A variety of tools will be used for mark making, including stencils to add texture and pattern to the prints. Tools, test papers and encaustic paint will be provided.
